Moon Phases
4.E.1.2
This lesson was used to show the students the monthly changes in the appearance of the moon based on the moon's orbit around Earth.
Using a paper plate the students drew the Earth in the middle of the plate and the sun on the far left of the plate. Next the students used Oreo's to represent the moon with the cream filling representing the illuminated portion of the moon in its various phases.
Once they completed the plate, they transferred the information to a chart that they could store in their notes.
