About Me
On a cold Christmas morning in 1984 a healthy, red-headed baby girl was born to the parents, Donna and David Smith. They named her Jessica Noel. Her two older brothers, Greg and Matt, were not excited about the date she chose to arrive because it interfered with the opening of their presents! She and her family are from the tiny, country town of New London, North Carolina. In 2003, Jessica graduated from North Stanly High School with academic honors and perfect attendance for all 13 years of school! Jessica loves anything turquoise, reading by the lake or beach, being crafty, and shopping; especially for shoes. Whenever Jessica gets frustrated, you will typically hear her say, “Oh mylanta!” Recently she married her lovey and soon after they bought their first home where they live with their little girl, a cat named Morgan.
Philosophy of Teaching:
I believe the purpose of education is more than just helping students pass a test. My goal as an educator, is to help students gain confidence and to help them grow socially and mentally. It is important to me that my classroom feels safe, inviting, and supportive so that my students can become engaged and stimulated. I want my classroom to have a sense of community where students feel respected and diversity is embraced. I believe if these things take place, the students are much more likely to participate and learn while enjoying themselves.
